How To Install Neon Car Lights

Installing neon lights is one way of customizing a car. This is highly popular among drag racers who usually race at night. Neon car lights can be installed at almost any parts of a car. Many car enthusiasts install neon lights under the car, while others put them under the hood and even inside the trunk. The installation of neon lights are usually performed by custom auto shops, but you can also do it by yourself. Here are some guidelines on how to install neon car lights:

1. Since you're dealing with electricity, disconnect the battery. Better read the car owner's manual about your vehicle's electrical system. Bear in mind that not all cars have the same electrical and wiring systems. Neon lights are usually installed under the car. The undercarriage installation involves drilling. Make sure the place where you install the neon lights won't damage other parts of your car such as electrical wiring or fuel lines. Stay away from all fuel lines, exhaust systems, extreme heat areas, and jacking points which use to raise the vehicle. Better to install it in the chassis of the vehicle.

2. Jack up the car then test fit the neon car lights where you want to install them. Make mark for the drilling holes, then make sure they are placed right before you drill them. When going under car for the drilling, don't forget to wear a pair of eye protector. Carefully drill holes. Afterwards, place the neon tubes then insert and tighten the screws. Mount the transformer of the neon lights. The best place to mount the transformer is in the engine compartment which is near the battery. The battery is where the neon lights get its power. Then, connect the transformer to the battery.

3. The switch button for the neon car lights should be installed near the driver, usually on the dashboard. It must be connected to the transformer, with the wiring running through into the engine compartment. The complete instructions for the neon lights wiring sequence can usually be found on the manual kit. Try to connect the battery and test your new installed neon car lights.
